"I've had it!", I said as I walked through a small natural foods grocery store last week.  I was talking on the phone with my sister, Phat_Wife (that's pretty hot and tempting if you didn't know, and no, I didn't come up with that).  I was trying to decide if I wanted to spend my hard earned money on a new gluten free item (it was a cupcake, we all know how sketchy those can be) and I wasn't sure if I would like it.  The store said that they were too small to accept returns. Then my sister and I talked about how there were now so many options on the market, that there really was no reason why we had to continue to accept nasty gluten free items.

I thought about the countless dollars wasted over the years on nasty gluten free food.  I get that tastes are different, but nasty is nasty, and it stops here!

I was a chef before finding out that I was gluten intolerant.  Finding out did two things, it changed my love of cooking, and it changed my life!  For the better.  I will post more on that later, but I have spent a lot of money and eaten a lot of broken bits of pasta and munched dry or even strangely chewy cupcakes (who knew you could munch a cupcake, isn't that reserved for crunchy items?)  I have had things that taste like dirt, and the list goes on.  I fear, though, that we all have.

That's where Phat Wife and I, Short Stack (of the world's most delightfully fluffy and gluten free pancakes), come in.  We are here to stand up for the millions of people who eat gluten free and tell manufacturers that it is no longer ok to sell us nasty gluten free foods. We will try new items and post them on the blog to let you know what we think. I am allergic to tomatoes as well, so my food options are somewhat limited, but Phat_Wife is not, but is gluten free.

I hope you find the information to follow helpful, and maybe money saving as well.  I promise to never blog about an item one of us hasn't tasted.  If for some reason we divulge because of excitement over an new product we can't get yet, we will be clear and let you know we haven't tried it yet.  And, we promise to be true to the consumer.
